Pandemic World Series
[co-vi-dism] s.n.
Artistic current, the new ism of the 21st century, manifests itself through the elaboration of works inspired by the coronavirus pandemic.
It was born as a response to frustrations caused by lack of freedom, boredom in their own space.
Characteristic elements in the works are the presence of masks, disinfection solutions, excessive hand washing, measuring the space between two people, being in pajamas, lack of yeast; but the most attention was given to toilet paper, which has become a universal currency in crisis situations.
Analyzing the first two works from Pandemic World Series and the wave of reactions among artists, generated by the subject Covid-19, I felt the need to define the new ISM in art. The paper appears as a definition from the dictionary and reproduces some characteristics of the works that will fit into the new current - COVIDISM.
